Last week for Te Reo we had to make a map of New Zealand and add arrows pointing to popular places onto the map in Te Reo Moari. We also had to add a picture of the famous landmark. I did buildings, cliffs, oceans, museums and heaps more. We had to do 5 different landmark on the South side of New Zealand and the North side of New Zealand. I did Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Southland, Invercargill, Dunedin and heaps more. Have you ever been to any of these places in New Zealand?

For the last couple of week we have been writing picture books for different hubs. I wrote my book for Kakano. My book Is about a Llama who was taken to a zoo and he has a horrible enclosure that is dark and small, he sees all the other animals with such good enclosures. None of the family’s wanted to feed Harry because they where scared that he would spit at them. We added our picture books onto book creator and made the pictures of Canva AI. Then we screenshotted each page and added it to a Google slide. Here Is mine. Have you ever made a picture book?

This week we have been learning about advent. We made an advent calendar with things that are kind that you can do everyday. You have to add 24 kind things to do and put them on your own advent calendar. I made my advent calendar a gingerbread house and put all the kindness things onto candy canes, cotton candy, gingerbread man, gumdrops, windows and the door is the last day. This week for for reading we did a vocab task where we had to write down 5 words in Percy Jackson and the lighting Theif that we didn’t know, we had to say what we though the word meant, type up the dictionary definition and add a photo of what it was.  After that we went onto a graffiti block website and added one of our unknown words onto it. We got to choose whatever font, color and style that we wanted. Then we had to put it on a drawing. Here is my vocab tasks. Do you know any of these words?

For the last couple of weeks we have been planning an RE play. In my group is Elsie, Freya, Sorvane, Lauren and Francesca. We have been planning a script and making props for our play. Everybody is a different Saint and I am the interviewer. They are having an argument to see who is the best Saint. The Saints we have are Saint Anne, St Patrick, St Anthony, St Nicholas and St Thomas. Here is our planned script.

Kia Ora, for the last couple of weeks we have been reading the Novel Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief. It’s about a boy that doesn’t know he has a lightning bolt but everybody is trying to fight him to get it and he has to go on a mission to get back his mum, on the way he has to fight heaps of monsters and he has two other friends that are helping him, one is half goat and he’s called Grover, and the other friend is called Annabeth and shes normal. We have been answering questions about the book each week. Here is my slide.

Have you ever read Percy Jackson?

Kia Ora, this week for writing we started our narrative writing plan. We made a Google drawing and planned our writing. We had to plan what our orientation is, which is our setting where the story takes place. My setting is the zoo. We also planned resolution, rising action, climax and falling action. We also planned who are character is and what class we are making our book for. I am making my book for Kakano. My character is called Harry the fluffy Llama.

My story is about a Llama called Harry and he got taken away and put in a zoo by himself. People would never feed him because they were scared that he would spit at them so Harry was very hungry and couldn’t get any food because he was in a dark enclosure with no trees. Then one day a family came and fed Harry and lots of other people saw that he was nice so lots more people came and fed him and he became the most popular animal in the zoo and people donated to upgrade his zoo enclosure to look like a forest. I made my character on Canva Ai. Here is my character and my writing plan.

Kia Ora. For the last few weeks we have been learning about shapes. For our create a couple of weeks ago we had to go onto Polypad and make these shape nets: A favourites box, a soccer ball and a celebrations box. Me and Elsie did it together. Kia Ora, this week for PBL we have been focusing on racism in the Olympics. We got to pick either Jesse Owens or Tommie Smith and John Carlo to focus on. I picked Jesse Owens. We watched two videos about Jesse Owens. We put it on a drawing and answers some questions about it. Here is mine. Who else do you know that was treated unfairly?

Why is it important we stand up for groups of people that have been unfairly treated? Because nobody deserves to be treated bad for their color.

How have the Olympic Games helped and hindered athletes of colour? By giving them a bad score even if they did good.

What is fairness and how can we promote it in sport? Fairness is treating everybody the same no matter what their colour is.

Kia Ora, this week for maths we have been learning about the properties of shapes. For our create we made animals out of shapes and had to say how many sides the shapes had and what shape it was. My one was called Barthlomew- Gemima- Gloria- Karen the third. We were aloud to use a shape multiple times in our drawing. Here is mine. Have you ever made a person out of shapes?
